Jerry Lee Deshazer

Graveside services with military honors for Jerry Lee Deshazer, 62, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mr. Deshazer died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at his home.He was born April 23, 1945, in Baldwin City, the son of Harold E. and Dorothy M. Bennett Deshazer. He grew up and attended schools in Baldwin City.Mr. Deshazer served in the U.S. Army and obtained the rank of sergeant. He served as fire crewman in the 2nd Battalion, 31st Infantry, 7th Infantry Division in the Eighth Army and was honorably discharged April 4, 1971. He then worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years.Survivors include a son, Timothy A., Baldwin City; a daughter, Robin Diane VonBargen and husband Thomas, Baldwin City; a stepdaughter, Billie JoLea Weeks, Lawrence; a brother, Joe and wife Sandy, Eudora; a sister, Judy Deshazer, Garland, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold E. Deshazer and Dorothy M. Zimmerman; a brother, Harold D.; a sister, Ethel Marie Herron; and a stepson, David LeAllen Deshazer.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin City.The family suggests memorials to the Jerry Lee Deshazer Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
