Eugene W. Morgan

Memorial services for Eugene W. Morgan, 93, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth.Mr. Morgan died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, after an extended illness.He was born July 23, 1914, in Jarbalo. He lived most of his life in Kansas City. He moved to the Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence 10 years ago. He graduated from the Kansas University School of Business in 1937.Mr. Morgan was financial officer of Spencer Chemical Co. and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for more than 60 years. He was a charter member of the Tax Executives Institute Inc. and Financial Executives Institute Inc. and a past president of both organizations. He served on the first Jackson County Sports Authority as financial and business adviser for the development of the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City, Mo. He was national president of the Kansas University Alumni Association from 1963 to 1964 and received the Fred Ellsworth Medallion, the highest honor for service to the university, in 1985. He was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan and was a Royal Lancer for many years. Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Ann Marie Morgan and Patricia Graebner; a son-in-law, Clark Graebner; a brother, Bernard; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Morgan; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the Eugene W.
