Thelma Hawkins 1925 - 2008 Scranton
Memorial services for Thelma Hawkins, 82, Scranton, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Inurnment will be in Carbondale Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at the Brookside Manor in Overbrook. She was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Winfield, the daughter of Hazel Abbott. She lived in Winfield, Topeka, Siloam Springs, Ark., and in the Scranton area for the last 13 years.Mrs. Hawkins worked as a cook at McGill's Restaurant and the Sale Barn in Winfield, the Woolworth's Store in Topeka and as an attendant at a Laundromat near Washburn University in Topeka. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She married Earl "Jack" Hawkins on Oct. 18, 1946, in Fort Smith, Ark. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Ed Hawkins, Lawrence, and Mike and Mitch Hawkins, both of Scranton; three daughters, Rhonda Widdell, Topeka, Debra Ansley, Overbrook, and Laurie "Dee Dee" Hawkins, Topeka; a sister, Betty Jean, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
