Ira R. Moore

Graveside services for Ira R. Moore, 89, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Twin Mound Cemetery in rural Douglas County.Mr. Moore died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at Medicalodges of Eudora.He was born July 27, 1919, in Douglas County, the son of Ira H. and Ella Simmons Moore. He attended Rock Creek School.Mr. Moore was a farmer in the Richland and Clinton areas all of his life. He also worked in maintenance for Douglas County for 15 years. He was a charter member of the Farmers Cooperative Association, and a member of Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 309 in Lawrence. He enjoyed coyote hunting with friends.He married Margaret Whitington on Jan. 19, 1952. She later died. He married Elsie Marie Mullin Folks on Jan. 16, 1971. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Betty Jean Moore, Lawrence; two stepdaughters, Janet Folks Gabriel, Eudora, and Mary Jane Folks Church, Lawrence; two stepsons, Richard Folks Jr., Wright City, Mo., and Larry Folks, Mesquite, Nev.; a sister, Margaret Hout, Lawrence; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by a stepson, Kenneth Folks, four brothers and three sisters.Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Diabetes Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at rumsey-yost.com.
