Kathel Louise Thomas Snook

Funeral services for Kathel Louise Thomas Snook, 93, McLouth, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the McLouth United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow the services. Private family inurnment will be at McLouth Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Snook died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 14, 1915, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Lloyd Emerson and Edith Almira Reynolds Thomas.She was 1933 graduate of Topeka High School and had lived in McLouth since 1948. Mrs. Snook was a homemaker and assisted her husband in his medical practice for many years. She was a member of the McLouth United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and also served as a past president and state officer in the United Methodist Kansas East Conference. She was a member of Rinda Chapter 82, Order of the Eastern Star in Tonganoxie, the Jefferson County Historical Society, the “Home Aloners” club and the All Sew Club of McLouth, the Lincoln Club in Topeka, and the West Side Study Club in Lawrence. She married Dr. Robert R. Snook on Nov. 28, 1936, in Lexington, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1993. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jessie Blake, and a sister, Marjorie Ralston.Survivors include four daughters, Nina Blindt, Rapid City, S.D., Meredith Edmonds, McLouth, Susan Baldwin, Basehor, and Carolyn Kimberlin, Austin, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Kathel Miller-Smith, Kerri Thomas, Michelle Gabriel, Jeff and Robert McAlexander, Todd Miller, Tom Bemberger, Denise Mestagh, Michael and Cara Kimberlin, Manda Smith and Corinne Blake; and 23 great-grandchildren.
