Claude Henderson Hunt
Funeral services for Claude Henderson Hunt, 87, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. today at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Eskridge. Burial will follow in Eskridge Cemetery. Mr. Hunt died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born May 3, 1921, in Omaha, Neb., the son of William M. and Imogene Henderson Hunt. He graduated from Eskridge Rural High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II as an aircraft mechanic. He entered the service in July 1942 and was discharged with the rank of sergeant in September 1945.Mr. Hunt was a farmer in the Eskridge community until 1974, when he and his wife moved to Emporia. They moved to Lawrence in 2005.He married Hazel Penrice on Dec. 5, 1948, in Eskridge. She survives, of Lawrence.Other survivors include a son, Marvin and wife Cathy, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Adrian, Aaron, Nathan and Ashlee Hunt; two great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, William J. and wife Lydia, of Blair, Neb.; and a sister, Colleeta Peterson and husband Robert, of Blair, Neb.Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by a son, Norman; a sister, Darlene Burgeson; and two brothers, Harold and Tivis.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
