Mary Louise Coffey
Leavenworth — Mass of Christian burial for Mary Louise Coffey, 72, of rural McLouth, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph of the Valley Catholic Church in rural Leavenworth. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet/St. Joseph of the Valley Cemetery.Mrs. Coffey died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Edward Joseph and Theresa Mary Callaghan Musil. She was a 1955 graduate of Turner High School in Kansas City, Kan. She had lived in rural McLouth for many years.Mrs. Coffey retired in 2001 after 11 years at Peruvian Connection Co. in Tonganoxie.She was a member of St. Joseph of the Valley Catholic Church and Ladies Altar Society in rural Leavenworth, and was a member of the Tri-Parish Quilter’s Club in Easton.She married James Delbert “Jim” Coffey on Oct. 10, 1959, in Kansas City, Kan. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Glenn Coffey and James D. Coffey III, both of McLouth, and John Coffey, of the home; three daughters, Lori Coffey, Oskaloosa, Patricia Christman, Lecompton, and Cathy Kern, Winchester; a brother, Edward J. Musil Jr., McLouth; and 19 grandchildren.Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by a son, Rick Lee Coffey, on Dec. 8, 2005.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, where a parish rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Friday.
