Mass of Christian burial for Douglas M. “Doug” Coleman, 70, Panama City Beach, Fla., will be 10 a.m. Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.Mr. Coleman died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Bay County Medical Center, Panama City, Fla.He was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Pratt, the son of Francis Marion and Virginia Marian (Bird) Coleman.He grew up in Hutchinson.He was a 1961 graduate of Kansas University School of Business. At KU, he was a member of Kappa Sigma social fraternity.Mr. Coleman was formerly a business owner in Lawrence. He owned Coleman American Moving Services Inc. from 1965 to 2002. He was a past president of Covan World Wide Moving Inc. He moved to Florida in 2002.He was a former board member of American Mover’s Association, and a member and past president of Kansas Motor Carriers Association.He married Mary Jo Traynor on Feb. 15, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth Brenner and Mary Susan Pederson, both of Castle Rock, Colo., Nancy Roe, Little Rock, Ark., and Katie Coleman, Overland Park; three sons, Michael, Overland Park, Andrew, Dothan, Ala., and Christopher, Lawrence; three brothers, James and Patrick, both of Dothan, Ala., and Dale, Atlanta; and 17 grandchildren.The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Coleman.
