Mass of Christian Burial for Nancy A. Whitaker, 90, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.Mrs. Whitaker died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Nov. 12, 1918, in York, Neb., the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Flood Doyle.Mrs. Whitaker was a registered nurse for the U.S. Army Nurse Corps from 1940 until 1946. She worked as a registered nurse for Lawrence Memorial Hospital for 22 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was involved in the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society.She married Robert O. Whitaker on June 16, 1944, in San Francisco. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Robert D. and wife Kathy, Portland, Ore., and Patrick J. and wife Veronica, Helena, Mont.; two daughters, Kathleen Cook and husband Stanford, Olympia, Wash., and Mary Davidson and husband Michael, Lawrence; a sister, Margaret Geiger, York, Neb.; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
