Helen I. Ross 1909 - 2008 Overland Park
Overland Park — Services for Helen I. Ross, 99, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church in Overland Park. A private family graveside service will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens prior to the services.Mrs. Ross died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008.She was born June 3, 1909, in Centerville, Iowa.Mrs. Ross and her husband owned and operated a Ben Franklin Store in Overland Park and Lawrence. She was a volunteer, helping special-needs children at Village Presbyterian Church. She also volunteered at Shawnee Mission Medical Center for more than 17 years.She was a member of Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church. She was supportive of her husband in his many civic accomplishments in Overland Park.She married Matt Ross, who preceded her in death. They shared 75 years of marriage. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Wilkinson, and a sister, Thelma Kane.Survivors include two daughters, Roberta McDow and husband Don, Lawrence, and Barbara Gibson, Overland Park; five grandchildren, Richard McDow, Sue Nutt, Debbie Miller, Stan Gibson and Linda Kice; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas, 15329 W. 95th St., Lenexa, KS 66219.McGilley & Hoge Chapel in Overland Park is in charge of arrangements.
