Dorothy Julia Yockey

Lyndon — Private family services are planned for Dorothy Julia Yockey, 88, Lyndon. Entombment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Mrs. Yockey died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Lyndon, the daughter of Herbert and Hope Thomas Goodman. She graduated from Lyndon High School and the St. Joseph Business School. She lived in California from 1941 to 1951, then returned to Lyndon.She had worked part time at the Lyndon City Hall for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Lyndon Presbyterian Church.She married William Yockey in 1941 in Burbank, Calif. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Charles Yockey and wife Nancy, Lawrence, and Dennis Yockey and wife, Peggy, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.She was preceded in death by her sister, Pearl Thompson.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
