Virgiline D. Pierson

Funeral services for Virgiline D. Pierson, 70, Holton, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Cremation will follow.Mrs. Pierson died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Holton Community Hospital.She was born March 28, 1938, at San Bernardino, Calif., the daughter of Virgil Clay and Thelma Darling Cooper. She graduated from San Bernardino High School. She was a longtime resident of Lawrence.Mrs. Pierson worked as an in-home care provider for many years. She was a member of Lakeview Faith Chapel in Holton and a former member of Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church in Lawrence. She was also a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.She married Francis D. Pierson on Nov. 24, 1967, in Las Vegas. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Michael Edward Shupe, Wichita, and Shawn Winfred Shupe, California; a daughter, Victoria Renee Beguelin, Uvalde, Texas; two brothers, Louis Cooper and Virgil Clay Cooper, both of Hesperia, Calif.; a sister, Mary Simmers, Hesperia, Calif.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Friends may call Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
