Betty J. Bullock 1948 - 2008 Baldwin City
A celebration of life for Betty J. Bullock, 59, Baldwin City, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Polsky Theatre in the Carlsen Center at Johnson County Community College, Overland Park. Bright-colored attire is requested.Ms. Bullock died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at her home. She was born Sept. 11, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of William S. and June Evans Bullock. She grew up in Raytown, Mo. She attended Baker University and earned a bachelor's degree in sociology in 1970. She earned a master's degree in 1973 and a doctorate in 1997, both from Kansas University.She worked as an adjunct professor of sociology at JCCC for 17 years before starting full time in 2002. She finished her teaching career as a professor of sociology.Ms. Bullock was a member of Alpha Delta Sigma Honor Society at Baker, and a longtime member of the Midwest Sociological Society and the Tuesday Reading Club.In 2007, Ms. Bullock received the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Teaching Excellence Award. In 2008, she received a Distinguished Service Award from JCCC.Survivors include her father, William Bullock, Raytown, Mo.; and a son, Evan Durnal and fiancee Amanda Carey, Mission.She was preceded in death by her mother.The family suggests memorials to the Dr. Betty J.
