Milton H. Farris 1938 - 2008 Ottawa
Funeral services for Milton H. Farris, 80, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.Mr. Farris died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa.He was born July 31, 1928, on the family farm west of Ottawa, the son of Ray and Mildred Marie Hayden Farris. He grew up and attended Wicoff Grade School three miles southwest of Ottawa.Mr. Farris served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. He was a farmer and stockman. He also worked for Durbin Plumbing and was a fill-in letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office, both in Ottawa.He was a member of the Ottawa Elks Lodge No. 803 and Ottawa Masonic Lodge No. 18. He also was an Ottawa Coop board member, a board member of Rural Water District No. 4 and a member of Power of the Past. Mr. Farris enjoyed drinking coffee with friends, attending auctions and antique tractors.Survivors include a brother, Jerry and wife, Marie, Ottawa; a niece, Carolyn Dunn and husband Brian, St. John; a nephew, Keith Farris and wife Sharon, Ottawa; an uncle, Gardner Hayden, Ottawa; several great-nephews and cousins; and friend Minnie Adams.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Power of the Past or the American Red Cross, sent in care of the funeral home, 325 S. Hickory, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
