Funeral services for Harvey R. Rew Jr., 76, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.Mr. Rew died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at his home.He was born June 12, 1932, in Wellsville, the son of Harvey R. Sr. and Ruby Rhoades Rew. He had lived in Lawrence since 1955 after moving from Wellsville.Mr. Rew was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.He was a retired maintenance employee of the Farmland Industries plant in Lawrence. He worked there for 37 years, from 1954 to 1991.He was a member of the American Legion Post 194 in Wellsville.Mr. Rew married Hazel Huyett on May 16, 1955, in Ottawa. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Danny and wife Teresa, Lawrence; a daughter, Janet Enyart and husband Steve, St. Joseph, Mo.; a brother, Bob, North Kansas City, Mo.; five sisters, LuEtta Crist, Wellsville, Ruth Ohrazda, Independence, Mo., Lois McKinney, Olathe, Beth Crawford, LeLoupe, and Marlena Cockburn, Merriam; five grandchildren, Dustin King, Danielle and Sarah Rew, and Matthew and Jonathan Enyart; and two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Hudson Enyart).The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or to the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Rew.
