Ruel Edmond “Sheny” Rousselo

Funeral services for Ruel Edmond “Sheny” Rousselo, 88, Gardner, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.Mr. Rousselo died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Olathe.He was born May 18, 1919, in Edgerton, the son of Alfred and Daisy Waddel Rousselo. He graduated from Edgerton High School in 1937 and was the only one in his family to graduate.Mr. Rousselo married Margaret Lucy Hoyle on Jan. 17, 1942, in Olathe. They shared 66 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.Mr. Rousselo served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He worked as a mechanic and millwright. He was a maintenance supervisor for Hercules Ammunition Plant in De Soto and retired in 1982 after 31 years. He and his wife were sponsors for Teen Town in late 1950s and early 1960s. He was a member of Edgerton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and building things, including a motorized buggy for the Roy Bruce family. He enjoyed cruising around town on his yellow mo-ped in warm weather.Other survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Hendrix and husband Bob, Gardner, Sharon Alsdurf, Collinsville, Okla., and Linda Turner, St. George; a son, Harold J. and wife Connie, Claremore, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Tracy Price, Lisa Haney, Mike Rousselo, Chris Turner, Jennifer Bailes, Shantel Fawcett and Danyel Alsdurf; 16 great-grandchildren, Zach, Ethan, Taylor, Carley, Connor, Judy, R.J., Zoe, Maggie, Jacob, Carson, Travis, David, Justina, Heather and Dylan; four stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and three grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home before the services.The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or Odyssey Healthcare, sent in care of the funeral home, 106 S.
