Mildred Margaret “Micky” L’Ecuyer

Memorial services for Mildred Margaret “Micky” L’Ecuyer, 96, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Plymouth Congregational Church.Mrs. L’Ecuyer died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.She was born June 20, 1911, in Quincy, Wash., the daughter of Peter and Bertha Ketterhenry Schild. She did undergraduate work at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wis., and received a master’s degree in education from Kansas University.Mrs. L’Ecuyer taught at the University of Iowa and was the head of the social study in education department. She also taught at Cordley and Schwegler schools in Lawrence from 1954 to 1957.She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and P.E.O.She married Jesse Nelson on Sept. 8, 1943. He died in May 1950. She married H. K. L’Ecuyer in 1957. He died March 10, 1975.She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Schild and Wally Schild; a sister, Corky Blumberg; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.Survivors include three sons, Bob L’Ecuyer and wife Claudelle, Chandler, Ariz., David Nelson and wife Sherry, Gypsum, Colo., and Don Nelson and wife Kay, Prairie Village; two daughters, Sally Smith, Salinas, Calif., and Mary DeGood and husband Gerald, Spring Lake Fla.; two brothers, Alvin Schild and wife Joyce, Lawrence, and Marc Schild, Newton, Iowa; a sister, Anne Hessert, Hot Springs Village, Ark.; 29 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
