Alfred C. "Al" Sill 1929 - 2008 Topeka
Funeral services for Alfred C. "Al" Sill, 79, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in Topeka. Graveside services with military honors by a U.S. Army detail from Fort Riley will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lebo. Mr. Sill died Monday, April 21, 2008, at his home.He was born March 16, 1929, in Emporia, the son of Reuben and Lydia Strupp Sill. Mr. Sill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and received a Purple Heart. He worked for Hallmark Cards for 35 years and retired in 1988. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Philip Billard Post 1650 and a member of First United Methodist Church of Topeka.He married Rosella Roberts on Sept. 2, 1955, in Lebo. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Pam Sill, Edgerton, and Diane Brees, Topeka; a son, Alan, Liberal; a brother, Marion Johnson, Emporia; two sisters, Ruth Jones, Emporia, and Mildred Lewis, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Alaina and Adam Sill, and Taryn and Olivia Brees.Mr. Sill was preceded in death by his parents; two half-brothers, Clair and Lloyd Johnson; and a granddaughter, Amber Christine Brees.Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the chapel, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.The family suggests memorials to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, 1500 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604.
