Genevieve C. Kempke 1920 - 2008 Ellsworth

Services for Genevieve C. Kempke, 87, Ellsworth, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. Burial will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.Mrs. Kempke died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Ellsworth.She was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Kanopolis, the daughter of Richmond and Lucille Eagleton. Mrs. Kempke worked in her father's grocery store and graduated from Kanopolis High School.She worked at Citizens State Bank for 22 years.She was active in her church, serving as the secretary, a Sunday school teacher, a deacon and on the elder selection committee. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club and played cards with several groups. She enjoyed the company of many close friends.She married Foch Kempke on Nov. 2, 1941. He died earlier.Survivors include two daughters, Deb Hird and husband Rick, Lawrence; Diane Warta and husband Tom, Abilene; a brother, Harold Eagleton, Salina; a sister, Betty Quint, Pratt; five grandchildren, Jennifer Thurlow and husband Doug, Jana Warta, Ben Warta and wife Erin, Scott Hird, and Sam Hird; and six great-grandchildren, Thomas, Treven, Carly and Kinsey Thurlow, Landon and baby girl Warta.Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, where the family will greet them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.Memorials may be given to the church or Ellsworth County Medical Center, sent in care of Parsons Funeral Home, P.O.
