Colleen Ellis
A celebration of life for Colleen Ellis, 82, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will follow at the Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.Mrs. Ellis died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Chanute, the daughter of Deyo and Marie Davis Rumble. She attended school in Chanute and graduated from Chanute High School. Mrs. Ellis was a member of First Christian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and taking trips to Las Vegas.She married Morris Ellis on Oct. 16, 1944, in California. He preceded her in death.Mrs. Ellis was also preceded in death by a brother.Survivors include a daughter, Morleen Van Buren and husband Rick, Lawrence; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Amanda; and two cousins, Mary Lou and Peggy Conway.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 224 W.
