Marvin R. Curtiss 1928 - 2008 Oskaloosa

Funeral services for Marvin R. Curtiss, 79, Oskaloosa, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. Mr. Curtiss died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Winchester Geriatric Center.He was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Olathe, the son of Floyd J. and Nettie Rist Curtiss. Mr. Curtiss worked as a pipe maker at Reuter Organ Company in Lawrence and retired Dec. 15, 1993, after 44 years of service. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Lawrence and Travelers Protective Association. He married Betty Jean McCrary on Nov. 29, 1946, in Lenexa. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include a son, M. Duane Curtiss, rural Oskaloosa; a daughter, Barbara Jean Base, Law-rence; a sister, Marjorie Brown, Lawrence; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.Mr. Curtiss was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Jo Curtiss, and two brothers, Robert and Earl Curtiss.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospice or Winchester Geriatric Center, sent in care of the mortuary.
