Ruth C. Hoogterp 1915 - 2008 Lawrence

Memorial services for Ruth C. Hoogterp, 92, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Inurnment will be later in Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City, S.D.Mrs. Hoogterp died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community. She moved to Lawrence from Tucson, Ariz., in 1999.She was born Sept. 10, 1915, in Harrold, S.D., the daughter of Fred and Karoline Shaefer Winckler.Mrs. Hoogterp was a mother and a homemaker. She and her husband had owned West River Monument Company in Rapid City, S.D.Mrs. Hoogterp was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence and Zion Lutheran Church in Rapid City, S.D. She was an active volunteer at the South Dakota church and a member of Ladies Aid Society.She married Henry H. "Holly" Hoogterp on Feb. 18, 1943, in Rapid City, S.D. He died March 1, 1996.Survivors include four daughters, Mary Jane Clement and husband Ed, Lawrence, Judy DiClemente, Medina, Ohio, Kathy Henderson and husband Alistair, Nassau, Bahamas, and Margo Black and husband John, Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, Christyne and Brenda DiClemente, Terie, Deanna and Robert Clement, Michael Rodenburg, Robert and Alexandra Henderson, and Michael, Greg and Kelsey Black; and one great-grandchild.A reception will follow the services at the church.The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Parkinson Support Group or Immanuel Lutheran Church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
