Mary Anne K. Powell 1928 - 2008 Salina

Memorial services for Mary Anne K. Powell, 80, Salina, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Salina. She donated her body to science.Mrs. Powell died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at her daughter's home in Lawrence.She was born March 16, 1928, in Birmingham, Mich., the daughter of Clarence W. and Edna Augusta Iutzi Kraft.She received a Bachelor of Arts from Bethel College in Newton. She taught in the Salina school system, was a librarian assistant at Marymount College, and recently retired as Saline County Coordinator for Meals on Wheels.Mrs. Powell was active with Salina People for Peace, The Land Institute, Salina Food Co-op, Democratic Women, and League of Women Voters of Salina, of which she was the current president.She also was a member of the Salina Symphony board of directors, Salina Chorale and the bell choir at First Presbyterian Church, and was a volunteer reader for Salina schools.She married William Powell on June 28, 1954, in Birmingham, Mich. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include four daughters, Johannah Hellen Cox, Lawrence, Laura Wiebe-Powell, Elkhart, Ind., Emily Kiesler, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Rachel Powell Marken, Kansas City, Kan.; one brother, Dr. John W.
