Ethel May “Jiggs” Coppinger

Services for Ethel May “Jiggs” Coppinger, 90, Winchester, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the New Testament Christian Church in Winchester. Burial will follow at Winchester-Wise Cemetery.Mrs. Coppinger died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Jefferson County Geriatrics Center in Winchester.She was born Nov. 12, 1917, in Winchester, the daughter of Thomas Steele and Lucy Annie Allie Gibson Reynolds. She was a lifelong resident of Winchester. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1935.Mrs. Coppinger was a cook at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital and operated the Winchester Cafe for a period of time. She was a member of the Christian Ladies Aid Society, the Homemaker’s Club and the Senior Citizens, all in Winchester. She also played piano for area square dances.She married Delbert Alvin Coppinger on Oct. 14, 1938, in Atchinson. He died Dec. 23, 1990.Survivors include four sons, Larry, Jerry, Dick and Charlie; three daughters, June Reed, Jean Jobbins and June VanDruff, all of Winchester; four brothers, James Reynolds, Nortonville; Alvin Reynolds, Harvey Reynolds and Don Reynolds, all of Winchester; a sister, Dora Kiernan, Winchester; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospice or to the Jefferson County Geratrics Center, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
