Richard A. Lobb

Funeral services for Richard A. Lobb, 81, McLouth, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McLouth United Methodist Church. Burial with American Legion honors will be in McLouth Cemetery.Mr. Lobb died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at the Leavenworth Veterans Affairs Hospital.He was born Dec. 20, 1926, in McLouth, the son of Ray and Minnie Willo Edmonds Lobb. He was a lifelong resident of McLouth.Mr. Lobb served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946 aboard the USS Nassau. His name is listed on the Memorial Register of the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for King Brothers Construction for 31 years and retired in 1991. He was a member of McLouth United Methodist Church, a life member of American Legion Post 225 in Ozawkie and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9271 in Tonganoxie.Mr. Lobb married Lela Grace Means on Sept. 18, 1947, in McLouth. She survives, in Oskaloosa. Other survivors include a son, Sam and wife Lodema, Tonganoxie; a daughter, Nancy Schultz and husband David, Tonganoxie; two brothers, Phillip, Fairplay, Colo., and Tom, Tonganoxie; three sisters, Esther Schwinn and Ruby Harwood, both of McLouth, and Shirley Kiefer, Dallas Center, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Shelley Schultz and Ray, Randall and Rodney Lobb.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
