Shirley D. Wulfkuhle

Funeral services for Shirley D. Wulfkuhle, 78, Perry, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stull United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Stull Cemetery.Mrs. Wulfkuhle died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Ottawa Retirement Village.She was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of William Robert and Frances Park Hilliard. She graduated from high school in Fort Worth in 1947. She was a former resident of Richmond. Mrs. Wulfkuhle worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator in Topeka and Ottawa. She later worked as a telephone information operator for Kansas University. She helped with her family farm until part of it was taken to create Clinton Lake. She was a member of Stull United Methodist Church. She was an avid Jayhawk fan and enjoyed crafts, tole painting, woodcarving, chair caning, gardening, watching college football, basketball and the Kansas City Royals.She married Donald Leroy Wulfkuhle on June 20, 1953, while he was stationed at Carswell U.S. Air Force Base in Fort Worth. He died May 27, 2007.Survivors include two brothers, Robert Hilliard, Longview, Texas, and William Hilliard, Ennis, Texas; two sons, Chris and wife Kathy, Spring Hill, and Kenny and wife Leah, Perry; a daughter, Carol Cooper and husband Gary, Osawatomie; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, Stacy, Randi, Alex, Gina and Daniel Wulfkuhle and Nicole and Lindsey Cooper; and three great-grandchildren, Avery, Alyssa and Ashley Anderson.Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
