Michael James Stevens

Oskaloosa – Funeral services for Michael James Stevens, 46, rural McLouth, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Buster Cemetery in Perry.Mr. Stevens died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at his home.He was born Jan. 3, 1961, in Lawrence, the son of Dennis M. and Ethel M. Hay Stevens. He graduated from McLouth High School in 1980 and attended Northeast Technical School in Atchison for auto mechanics. He was a lifelong resident of the McLouth and Oskaloosa areas.Mr. Stevens was an antique machinery collector and trader. He was an enthusiast and competitor in tractor and garden tractor pulling competitions. He was a member of the Meriden Antique Engine and Thresher’s Association and volunteered at the Meriden Threshing Grounds for many years.Survivors include his parents, McLouth; a brother, Rodney D., McLouth; two sisters, Denise Ann Stevens, Lecompton, and Penny Sue Illig, Perry; a nephew, Jeffrey D. Ladd II, Lecompton; and two nieces, Grace Illig, Lecompton, and Catherine Illig, Perry.The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Meriden Antique Engine and Thresher’s Association, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
