Lanthon D. Camblin 1921 - 2007 Winchester

Winchester - Graveside services for Lanthon D. Camblin, 86, Winchester, will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Grantville Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Testament Christian Church in Winchester.Mr. Camblin died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Jefferson County Geriatrics Center in Winchester.He was born March 6, 1921, in Arlington, the son of Lee D. And Laura May Hamon Camblin. He graduated from Nortonville High School in 1940. He lived in Nortonville from 1988 to 2003 and then moved to Winchester.Mr. Camblin served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946 with the 233rd Engineers. He worked as a cook and custodian at Colmery-O'Neil Veterans Affairs Hospital in Topeka for 15 years. He also worked as a custodian for the school district in Grantville for many years. He was a member of New Testament Christian Church in Winchester and Disabled American Veterans in Pittsburg.He married Virginia L. Beeler on June 17, 1947, in Topeka. She died Aug. 24, 2003.Survivors include four daughters, Marcia Powell, Omaha, Neb., Joan Wilson, Tacoma, Wash., Kathy Murrell, Bement, Ill., and Jane Edens, Pampa, Texas; two sisters, LaVerne Maynard, St. Joseph, Mo., and Susan Hundley, Kirbysville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O.
