Peggy Joan Sullivan

Memorial services for Peggy Joan Sullivan, 66, Lawrence, will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the backyard of her home, 2236 East Drive. Inurnment of her remains with those of her parents will be in Greenwood Mausoleum in Fort Worth, Texas.Ms. Sullivan died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at her home.She was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Howard and Madeline Leuty. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Christian University and attended graduate school at East Texas State University.Ms. Sullivan was an instructor for the Kansas University Continuing Education program and project director for the Kansas Humanities Council’s Health Care and Human Values project. She also worked at Howard Pines Garden Center.She attended First Presbyterian Church. She co-authored “The Dashing Kansan: The Amazing Adventures of a Nineteenth-Century Naturalist and Explorer,” an account of the contribution of Lewis Lindsay Dyche to the establishment of the KU Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Research Center.Friends are invited to bring a written memory, photograph or commemorative object from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, to her home. A walk-through of the home and silent viewing of the mementos will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, before the services.Memorials may be sent to the Lawrence Humane Society, Migrant Farmworkers Project, Heifer Project, First Presbyterian Church, Lawrence Community Theater or a charity of the donor’s choice.
