Margaret McKenzie 1919 - 2007 Lawrence
Funeral services for Margaret McKenzie, 88, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Solomon. Burial will be in Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon.Mrs. McKenzie died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Center in Lawrence.She was born June 30, 1919, in Langley, the daughter of Colby and Eva Smith. She graduated from Brookville High School in 1938.Mrs. McKenzie farmed with her husband in the Solomon community. She was also a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star and Solomon Presbyterian Church.She married Donald K. McKenzie on June 12, 1941, in Herington. He died March 31, 1996.Survivors include two sons, Kenneth McKenzie, Lawrence, and Ronald McKenzie, Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Mildred Larson, Council Grove; four granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.Friends may call until the service time at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon, where the family will receive them from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday before the services.The family suggests memorials to United Presbyterian Women of Solomon or Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, 208 W.
