Dorothy May Gantz

Funeral services for Dorothy May Gantz, 79, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Underwood Cemetery in Williamstown.Miss Gantz died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Specialty Select Hospital in Topeka.She was born May 17, 1928, in Lawrence, the daughter of Emil Karl and Almina “Minnie” Torneden Gantz. She graduated from Perry Rural High School in 1946. She was a lifelong resident of the Perry and Lawrence areas.Miss Gantz worked as a secretary in Federal Civil Service. She served as an administrative assistant at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Clinton Lake and retired in 1977 after 28 years of civil service. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.Survivors include a brother, Richard “Dick” Gantz, Perry; a sister, Mildred Hunter, Perry; three nephews, Charles “Chuck,” William and Cory Gantz; seven nieces, Darlene Bigham, Gayla Bogner, Kerry Schafer, Gina Brunton, Alison Gantz, Kathy Hackathorn and Karla Pattee.She was preceded in death by a brother, Karl E. Gantz, in 1999.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel before the services.The family suggests memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, sent in care of the chapel.
