Lawrence Lee “Larry” Wilson

Hartford – Services for Lawrence Lee “Larry” Wilson, 71, Hartford, will be at 10 a.m. today at Hartford Gymnasium. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery.Mr. Wilson died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.He was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Gridley, the son of James Arthur and Edna Mae Todd Wilson. He grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford High School in 1953.Mr. Wilson served in the National Guard for three years. He was a farmer and stockman. He had worked in the oil fields and for the railroad when he was young. He was a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church, American Legion Congdon-Kepler Post 38, Kansas Tractor Pullers Association, Quail Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited. He won a Banker’s Soil Conservation Award in the 1990s.Mr. Wilson married Viola Rae Crotts on July 12, 1956, in LeRoy. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Terry, Burlington, and Mike, Hartford; three daughters, Vicki Hoelting-Thomsen, Hartford, Debbie Rae Davis, Emporia, and Sherry O’Trimble, Perry; two brothers, Dean and Richard, both of Hartford; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.One grandson died earlier.The family suggests memorials to the Larry Wilson High School Scholarship Fund or Hartford United Methodist Church, sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, 801 Garrettson St., Burlington 66839.
