Esther Ruth Mervine 1925 - 2007 Lawrence
Graveside services for Esther Ruth Mervine, 82, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Mervine died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.She was born Feb. 5, 1925, in Inola, Okla., the daughter of Stanley and Lillie Haynes Skaggs.Mrs. Mervine worked for Stokley-Van Camp and was a baker at Naismith Hall at Kansas University, Alvin's IGA bakery and Furr's Cafeteria. She was a member of Lawrence Baptist Temple.She married Iber Webster Mervine on July 9, 1944, in Wellington. He died Feb. 16, 1986.Mrs. Mervine was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild.Survivors include a daughter, Jane Kinney, Holyoke, Colo.; a son, Wesley Mervine, Kiowa; two sisters, Mattha Burcher Jr., Kinsley, and Beatrice Robertson, Grandbury, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Vintage Park at Baldwin City, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Mervine.
