Wilbur H. Kristenson Jr. 1926 - 2007 Ottawa
Funeral services for Wilbur H. Kristenson Jr., 81, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. today at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.Mr. Kristenson died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at his home.He was born April 27, 1926, in Agricola, the son of Wilbur H. and Lucille Hartpence Kristenson. He attended Bullard Country School northeast of Ottawa and Poly High School in Long Beach, Calif. He also lived in Buena Park, Calif., before he returned to Ottawa in 1977.Mr. Kristenson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a fireman first class aboard the USS Massachusetts and USS Logan in the Asiatic-Pacific area. He was honorably discharged May 20, 1946.He worked for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif., as a riveter from November 1943 to May 1944. He also worked for Quinn Furniture in Ottawa. He later worked as a skilled appliance service technician for Sears and retired in 1990. Mr. Kristenson was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed remodeling homes, gardening, animals and spending time sitting in his screened porch.He married Doris Ramsey on Aug. 3, 1947, in Ottawa. They shared more than 60 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Bill and wife Denise, Chicago; two sisters, Betty Barnes and husband Donald, and Dorothy Nitcher, all of Ottawa; a grandson, Tom Thomas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Mr. Kristenson was preceded in death by his parents.The family suggests memorials to the Franklin County Midland Hospice or Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
