Donald Earl Farrier

Funeral service for Donald Earl Farrier, 80, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Farrier died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Seneca, Mo., the son of James Fredrick and Gertrude Celeste Nutting Farrier. Mr. Farrier served in the U.S. Army Kansas National Guard as a sergeant. He owned a Conoco gas station in Kansas City, Kan., in the early 1950s and worked for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in De Soto in 1960. He worked for the city of Lawrence as a supervisor with the street department and retired in March 1990. He enjoyed working in his flower gardens and woodworking shop and spending time with his children and grandchildren.He married Norma Morris in 1957. She survives, of Thayer, Mo.Survivors include his companion of 27 years, Eveline Miller, Lawrence; three daughters, Julie Moses and husband Lynn, Stull, Laura Wilcox and husband Brian, Sturgis, S.D., and Jennifer Williams and husband Chad, Bronson; two brothers, Fredrick and wife Laverne, McPherson, and David and wife Donna, Lawrence; two sisters, Geraldine Hadjukovich, Tecumseh, and Nadine Hadl, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Phillip Farrier, Zachary McIntyre, Jeremy Janes, Colin Wilcox, James Scally, Leslie Scally and Hannah Williams; and two great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to the Don Farrier Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
