Mary Elizabeth Steele Petefish 1911 - 2007 Indianapolis
Services for Mary Elizabeth Steele Petefish, 96, formerly of Ottawa, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Petefish died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis.She was born Feb. 4, 1911, in Pomona, the daughter of Charles and Harriet Kratz Steele. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1929. She was a cosmetologist in Lawrence for several years and owned and operated a beauty salon in Rogers, Ark., for 15 years.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa.Mrs. Petefish married Arthur W. Petefish on Sept. 1, 1939 in Ottawa. He preceded her in death in 1990.Also preceding her in death were a son, Charles L. Petefish; a brother, Howard Steele; and three sisters, Doris Steele, Ruby Brown and Esther Hagen.Survivors include two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.The family suggests memorials to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (in memory of Charles L. Petefish), sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa 66067.
