Helen Mary Huslig 1916 - 2007 Lawrence
Services for Helen Mary Huslig, 90, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with the Revs. Wesley S. Schawe and Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.Mrs. Huslig died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence.She was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Great Bend, the daughter of Charles Thomas and Anna Mazouch Pivonka. She was a lifelong resident of Barton County until moving to Lawrence.Mrs. Huslig worked as a legal secretary. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, the Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella, and served as a lector and Eucharistic minister, all in Great Bend. She was also a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center in Lawrence.She married Lawrence E. Huslig on June 1, 1938, in Great Bend. He died Sept. 6, 2002.Mrs. Huslig also was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Louis and infant brother Edward Pivonka; a sister, Kathryn Maneth; and a great-grandson, Michael Lawrence Saville.Survivors include three sons, James Huslig and wife Connie, Prairie Village, Richard Huslig and wife Shelia, Baltimore, and Philip Huslig and wife Kathy, Omaha, Neb.; three daughters, Carol Stumpf and husband James, Omaha, Neb., Jeanette Stine and husband John, Lawrence, and Laura Basse and husband Don, Alamosa, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, where an Altar Society rosary will be at 4 p.m. and a vigil service with a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7 p.m.The family suggests memorials to Prince of Peace Parish, St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center or the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend 67530.
