Galen I. Douglass

Services for Galen I. Douglass, 50, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lone Star Church of the Brethren in Lone Star. Burial will follow in Washington Creek Cemetery.Mr. Douglass died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at Kansas University Hospital after a two-year battle with cancer.He was born Dec. 16, 1956, in Burlington, the son of Dale Douglass and Marlene Steffey Bush. He graduated from Burlington High School. He also attended Allen County Community College and Butler County Community College. Mr. Douglass worked at the ICL plant, formerly FMC & Astaris, for 29 years. He was a member of Lone Star Church of the Brethren, Kansas State Grange and Chemical Workers Union.He married Debra Mozingo on Oct. 4, 1975, in Gridley. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include his father and stepmother, Dale and Pat Douglass, Garnett; his mother, Marlene Bush, Topeka; a son, Jeremy and wife Amy, Lawrence; a daughter, Jana Flory and husband Tim, Lawrence; a brother, Todd and wife Darlene, Paxico; a sister, Angie Watson and husband Pete, Derby; five grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.The family suggests memorials to Lone Star Church of the Brethren or the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
