Merle J. “Mickey” Cisneros Sr.

Kansas City, Kan. – Memorial services for Merle J. “Mickey” Cisneros Sr., 76, Kansas City, Kan., will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Holy Name Catholic Church, 16 S. Iowa St., Kansas City, Kan., followed by a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Private burial will be in Parsons.Mr. Cisneros died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, in Overland Park.He was born May 10, 1931, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Romuldo and Mary Rhodd Cisneros. He raised his family in the Armourdale District of Kansas City, Kan., and moved to the Kickapoo Indian Reservation in Horton in 1971.Mr. Cisneros worked at Swift and Wilson meat packing companies. He later worked in public relations for the Kickapoo tribe. He was a fast pitch pitcher for the Aztecas, Bravos and Ford Motor Co. He was inducted into the Mexican Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 1980. He called himself as “Walks Two Paths.” He enjoyed his family and loved to laugh, play tricks on people and support his children’s achievements. He was also an avid sports fan.He married Angelina Perez in 1951. She preceded him in death.Mr. Cisneros was also preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Harlan and Tom Cisneros and Bill, Art and Bob Whitewater.Survivors include four daughters, Vickie Cisneros, Kansas City, Kan., Tina Coachman and husband Nick, Lawrence, Valerie Carrillo and husband Jose, Horton, and Debra Cisneros, Kansas City, Kan.; three sons, Mickey Cisneros Jr. and wife Lula, Effingham, S.C., James Cisneros and wife Linda, Lawrence, and Matthew Cisneros, Horton; a sister, Lois “Penny” Cisneros, Kansas City, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
