Ada Lorene Bricker Coltrane

Ottawa – Funeral services for Ada Lorene Bricker Coltrane, 93, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.Mrs. Coltrane died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.She was born Aug. 31, 1914, near Ava, Mo., the daughter of Frank and Nellie Rosseau Bricker. She grew up in LaCygne and attended Brush Hill, a one-room school, until sixth grade. She moved to Paola and graduated from high school in 1932. She received a teaching degree from Kansas University in 1953.Mrs. Coltrane taught in a one-room school. She also taught at many rural schools in Franklin and Miami counties for more than 40 years and retired in 1975. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Ottawa and taught Sunday school for more than 66 years. She enjoyed sewing, painting, crocheting, tending her flowers, teaching and spending time with her family and friends.She married Ralph William Coltrane on May 8, 1938. They shared more than 52 years of marriage. He died April 20, 1990.Mrs. Coltrane was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray Bricker; a sister, Ivy Heafley; and three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bushfield, Frances Wiggins and Naomi Bricker.Survivors include a son, William Ray Coltrane and wife Vera Lea, Ottawa; two daughters, Rebecca Jane Wisdom and husband Lloyd, Lawrence, and Mary Margaret Amburgy and husband Randell, Boonville, Ky.; two sisters, Ola Benefiel, Walla Walla, Wash., and Mary Rogers, Phoenix; two brothers, Joe Bricker, Vancouver, Ore., and Leo Bricker, Houston; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
