Donald L. McBride 1934 - 2007
Mass of Christian Burial for Donald L. McBride, 72, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.Mr. McBride died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.He was born Nov. 28, 1934, in Topeka, the son of John W. and Katherine Foley McBride. He graduated from Hogan High School and attended Benedictine College. He moved to Lawrence in 1973.Mr. McBride was a salesman of fire prevention equipment for Gustin-Bacon (Aeroquip), Tyler Pipe and Grinnell. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Elks Lodge No. 595 and Lawrence Community Theatre.He married Patricia Elaine Duffin on June 26, 1954. She died June 9, 1996. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Bradshaw, in 2004, and a son, Michael, in 2006.Survivors include two sons, Tim and Dennis, both of Lawrence; a daughter, Karen McBride, Lecompton; a brother, Robert Denton, Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the rosary until 8:30 p.m.The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
