Mildred Jolly

Parsons – Graveside services for Mildred Jolly, 87, Parsons, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Memorial Lawn Patio in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons.Mrs. Jolly died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Presbyterian Manor in Parsons.She was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Houstonia, Mo., the daughter of Glen Gallaher and Mae Blossom Garrett Moser. She graduated from Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, Mo. She lived in Lawrence from 1975 to 2006.Mrs. Jolly worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Sedalia, Mo., as a switchboard operator and later as a supervisor. She then worked at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center as a secretary and then as office manager of the Bureau of Child Research. She transferred her position to Kansas University, from where she retired in 1985.She was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrence and a former member of Central Avenue Christian Church in Parsons. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association at Katy Golf Course in Parsons and Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence. She played in and won many golf tournaments.Mrs. Jolly married Charles R. Jolly in 1946.Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Vaughn, Lawrence, and Vicki Mendicki, Parsons; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to First Christian Church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
