Baldwin City – Funeral services for Dimple Odelia Tucker Eckman, 102, Baldwin City, were Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Church of Christ in Baldwin City. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City.Mrs. Eckman died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at the home of her son in Overland Park.She was born July 31, 1905, in rural Douglas County, the daughter of Louis and Dora Deay Tucker. She attended Stony Point Rural School and Vinland High School. She was a longtime resident of Baldwin City.Mrs. Eckman worked as a cook at Baker University and at various nursing homes in the Baldwin City area. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was a member of Church of Christ in Baldwin City, where she participated in various church activities. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.She married Francis Olaf Eckman on Sept. 2, 1957, in Lawrence. They shared 40 years of marriage. He died in 1998.Mrs. Eckman was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Francis Rockhold, Dorcas “Dotty” Cooper and Lois Tucker; and a brother, Drexell Tucker.Survivors include a son, Ainslie Settles, Overland Park; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the Church of Christ, sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
