Myron Lyndle Murray

Emporia – Memorial services for Myron Lyndle Murray, 72, Emporia, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hope Community Church in Emporia. Inurnment with military honors will be in Fruitland Cemetery, west of Americus.Mr. Murray died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at Flint Hills Care Center.He was born Sept. 3, 1935, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Leslie Elmer and Gladis “Sally” Ellen Benjamin Murray.Mr. Murray served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 as a submarine engineman. He was a master electrician, owning and operating Murray Electric until he retired.He was a member of Hope Community Church, where he served as delegate for the conference, a board member and trustee, and Sunday school superintendent, and he was very involved with World Missions. Mr. Murray helped found the Emporia Rescue Mission, and he served on the board of directors and donated the facility. He was a longtime member of the National Model Railroad Association. He won many awards for his model trains. He married Muriel Dee Dodson in 1958. They divorced in 1991. Survivors include two sons, Dan, Americus, and Paul, Derby; a daughter, Lynde K. Murray-Wright, Borger, Texas; a brother, Gailen, Gardner; three sisters, Evelyn Dean and Judy Crissler, both of Socorro, N.M., and Sue Shreves, Hot Springs, S.D.; and seven grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Charter Funerals, 501 W.
