Richard Dean Hill

Funeral services for Richard Dean Hill, 77, Lawrence, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Private burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hill died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born April 1, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of A. Ross and Lorraine Shepherd Hill. He attended Ohio Northern University and Ohio State University. Mr. Hill worked in a small town pharmacy as a young student. He later worked in direct retailing sales for propane gas companies and for nearly 30 years with Worthington Cylinder division. He moved to Lawrence in 1968, where he set up a client base in six states. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and Alvamar County Club. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, sports, was a big Kansas University fan, and enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Hill married Rosemary “Sue” Neff on May 7, 1950, in Pherson, Ohio. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Thomas R. and wife Robin, Leawood; a daughter, Amy Zook and husband Bob, Lawrence; a brother, Delton R., Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Bonnie Hill-Bricker, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Jason and Sally Hill, and Taylor and Sawyer Zook.The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association – Oncology Department, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Hill.
