Glen D. "Cotton" Phillips 1943 - 2007 Perry
Perry - Funeral services for Glen D. "Cotton" Phillips, 64, Perry, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Williamstown Assembly of God Church in Perry. Burial will be at Buster Cemetery, northeast of Perry.He died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Colmery-O'Neill V.A. Medical Center in Topeka.Mr. Phillips was born Aug. 29, 1943, in Ada, Okla., the son of Glen and Hazel Marie Matthews Phillips. He had lived in Perry since 1968. Mr. Phillips worked in maintenance and security for Unified School District 501 in Topeka for 28 years. He retired in 1994.Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Serving from 1961 to 1964, he was stationed 18 months in Okinawa, Japan, and in Alaska.He was a member of the Perry American Legion Post 142 in Perry. Mr. Phillips served 12 years on the Board of Education for USD 343 in Perry. He was a member of the Meriden Antique Engine and Thrashers Association.Mr. Phillips married Patricia Elaine Evans on Oct. 23, 1964, in Ottawa. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include his mother, Hazel, Francis, Okla.; a son, Jason, and his wife, Renee, Perry; two daughters, Jennifer Butler, Topeka, and Jessica Baxter and husband, Dustin, Oakville, Ontario; one brother, Derrell Phillips, Francis, Okla.; three sisters, Janet Chandler, Lubbock, Texas, Mary Etta Pherigo, Oklahoma City, and Donna Greene, Ada, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Nicole and Tara Cooney, Kayla and Trenton Phillips, Jacob and Jared Butler, and Katelyn and Samuel Baxter; and three great-grandsons.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
