Services for Eileen A. Taylor, 87, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center. Inurnment will be in the Fort Leavenworth Cemetery.Mrs. Taylor died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Windsor of Lawrence.She was born March 12, 1920, in Holdingford, Minn., the daughter of Alois and Bernadine Bernolken Abeln. She graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. Former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt presented Taylor with her diploma. She moved to Lawrence in 1998 from Leawood.Mrs. Taylor worked as a registered nurse before she was a homemaker.She married Francis J. “Frank” Taylor on Sept. 19, 1942, in Hanover, Md. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include four daughters, Susan Johnston and Jean Volz, both of St. Augustine, Fla., MaryLou Taylor, Boise, Idaho, and Nancy Flavin, Lawrence; a brother, William Abeln, Sartell, Minn.; two sisters, Eva Rangel, Sacramento, Calif., and Anne Robison, Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association of the Greater Kansas City Area, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Taylor.
