Thomas Scott Cadden 1923 - 2007 Glenview, Ill.
Thomas Scott Cadden, 83, Glenview, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, in Glenview, of complications from pneumonia.He was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Baxter Springs, Kan., the son of John LeRoy Cadden and Estelle Norma Scott. He graduated from Kansas University in 1947 and was a former resident of Lawrence, Kan.Mr. Cadden worked as a continuity director and publicity director for KSTL Radio in St. Louis from 1948 to 1951 and for WIL Radio in St. Louis in 1951. He worked at Smith, Taylor & Jenkins Advertising Agency in Pittsburgh as a TV and radio writer and producer from 1951 to 1953; Krupnick and Associates Advertising Agency in St. Louis as director of TV and radio from 1954 to 1955; and Geoffrey Wade Advertising Agency in Chicago as a TV and radio writer from 1955 to 1956. He worked at Tatham-Laird and Kudner Advertising Agency in Chicago as vice president, a member of the board of directors and director of commercial production for TV and radio from 1956 to 1970. He was the composer of the Mr. Clean advertising jingle, written in 1957. He worked as an author, freelance writer, producer and musician from 1971 to 2000 and retired in 2001.Mr. Cadden married Loretta Thorwart on July 10, 1954, in Indianapolis. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Thomas S. Jr., Phoenix, and Timothy W., Overland Park; a daughter, Holly Cadden Soptick, Lenexa; a brother, John R., Los Altos, Calif.; and six grandchildren.Services have already taken place.
