Darryl Arlan Steffen 1942 - 2007 Eudora
Mass of Christian Burial for Darryl Arlan Steffen, 64, Eudora, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.Mr. Steffen died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Clinton Lake from an illness.He was born Nov. 29, 1942, in Bethel, the son of Clifford and Alvena Bond Steffen. He was a Eudora resident most of his life.Mr. Steffen was in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Esteem and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for 32 years.He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. His hobbies included fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and riding around on his doodlebug.He married Shirley Hadl on Jan. 18, 1964, in Maywood, Calif. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Rachael Lynn Beebe, Eudora; three sons, Leonard Todd, Louisburg, Mo., and John Michael and Gary Alvin, both of Eudora; four granddaughters, MaKenzie and Kaitlyn Beebe, and Kailey and Madison Steffen; and four grandsons, Michael and Wyatt Steffen, Cole Hutchins-Steffen and Tanner Beebe.A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, after which the family will meet friends.The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association-Oncology Department, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
