Alfred D. Skeet 1916 - 2007 Eudora

Funeral services for Alfred D. Skeet, 91, Eudora, formerly of Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.Mr. Skeet died Friday, May 25, 2007, at Eudora Nursing Center.He was born April 1, 1916, in Reno, the son of Henry and Delia McKone Skeet. He worked as a supervisor for the Douglas County maintenance department for many years. Previously, he worked as a milk hauler, surge milking equipment salesman and deliveryman on a bulk fuel truck. He also served in the Kansas National Guard in 1936.He was a member of First United Methodist Church, member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Retired Eagles Activity Club, American Association of Retired Persons, Breakfast Optimists Club, and Lawrence Lodge No. 4, International Order of Odd Fellows/Rebekahs Friendship Lodge No. 754.He married Inez B. Mason on Dec. 25, 1936, in Tonganoxie. She died Feb. 23, 2006.Survivors include two daughters, Dolores Winsor, Shawnee, and Rita Neis, Eudora; and one son, Alan, Lewisville, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Eudora Nursing Center or to Prevention of Child Abuse at FOE in Lawrence, sent in care of the mortuary.
